Maths

Image result for mathsToday we did maths, Maths is really fun and amazing, doing maths makes me feel smart. I enjoyed rounding and compensating number to make the numbers go to the closest ten and be able to multiply it by another number.
Maths is fun for me but I think there is someone who loves maths more then me and that is Grace. Grace is smart at maths and when I'm stuck I always go to her or she comes to me.
I enjoyed working with my friends and also that this is one of the quitest session I have had all year.

Sailor of the South Pacific

Here is the work I have done based on the book we have been reading about:

Imagine being on a canoe with dozens of people for weeks. What would make it hard?  The canoe might not be strong enough and they can only take as much food as they can.

What would make it easier? They will have enough help to help them on sea. What would be the biggest challenge? The biggest challenge would be feeding a lot of people.

Why did Polynesian decide to explore the rest of the Pacific? To discover the different island of the pacific.

Discuss some of the challengers that early navigators will have experienced? Some of the boats would start to debris and they only called have a certain amount of food on the boat and also they called only drank rain water that they caught in a bucket when it was raining.

Image result for canoes from the polynesian explorers\What kind of skills did navigators need?Navigator needed to be able to discover  how to be able to use the star, sun, waves and birds to help them navigate themselves to were there destination is.

If you were a sailor, would you prefer to sail on cloudy days or at night? I would prefer to go sailing at night because I understand how to get somewhere using stars, more than I do with the clouds and the sun.

How reliable would bird movement be for navigating?   When you look at birds it helps the sailors because birds always fly towards land which then give a idea to the sailors that the direction of where land is, is where the bird is going.

Ki o rahi

Yesterday we did Kio rahi which is sad because it was the last session we did with coach Piuti. Ki o rahi is a fun game and the most interesting fact about it is that it is based on a Maori legend about a taniwha and other stuff.
The thing that I found challenging was trying to be able to run between everyone just to get the try. What i enjoyed is seeing my friends get all those try's, even though I didn't get any try's I still was able to use my muscle to through the ball at the tupu (rock) which was fun for me but hard for the defenders.
Here are the rules for Ki o'rahi:
Played for 4 quarters or 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of KÄ«oma and Taniwha at half or quarter time. KÄ«oma score by touching Pou/s with the KÄ« (for potential points) then running the KÄ« through Te Roto and placing it down in Pawero to convert pou touches into points.

KWL

Today we have been doing a KWL, if you don;t know what a KWL is, it means what you KNOW, what you WANT to know and what you LEARNT. The words in bold are used to represent the letters. We did a KWL on the polynesian navigators. The polynesians navigators are about the voyagers who travelled the pacific island which include Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and others.
Here is the KWL that me and my brother worked on to do:

Reading / Inquiry

Today we have been doing reading about the Polynesian explorers. I have learnt some amazing things including how they use to navigate where to go without a compass and the google maps. I don't know what I would do without the google maps, but I still want to learn how to sail and use the things around me to find out where I would go.
Image result for Polynesian voyagersI have enjoyed doing this task because I thought it was really satisfying and I thought because how it relates to my culture it make me so much more interested into it. I also enjoyed working with Mr Reddy because  he seems like a good teacher. The thing that I found challenging was trying to help 3 people at once because all three people needed and because they were all my friends I had to help them.

Blog commenting

Today I am going to be blog commenting and here today I have chosen to do a blog comment on Mason's blog and I am excited to be blog commenting on his blog because how I have not blog commented on his blog before. Mason is a classmate of mine and is someone who shows a lot of Rangimarie. Here is the blog comment that I have done on Mason's blog and if you can't read it so well here is what I wrote in normal writing:

Hi Mason,
I can tell you have put a lot of effort in your DLO about Kele's car. I think you are doing a great job with blogging but I think you could work on adding more detail to your blog description and ad some photos to make your blog look more exciting, but anyways keep up the good work Mason! :)

The dessert of Kaupoi.

Image result for the dessert of kaupoiThis week we read the text of "The Desert Kaupoi" which was written by Ariana Tikao.
A key idea of this text is Bravery. An example of Bravery was when a friend of John, McDonald got shot in the arm and his arm came of, with his mighty bravery he picked up his arm and threw it at the machine guns.
Another key idea in this text is Heroism. An example of Heroism is when the many brave and strong soldiers volunteered to sacrifice their lives to fight for there country.
My last key idea from this text is determination. An example of determination is when the soldiers were able to stay a soldier and to not back out. All the soldiers that volunteered knew that they there was going to be a possibility that they were going to die but they knew they were going to die fighting for there country.

Mathamatics

Image result for MathsToday I have been learning how to roundup and compensate a number in a multiplication question to make the number more simple and even to multiply. We have been multiplying one digit numbers to 3 digit numbers, when we learnt how to multiply these two different type of digit numbers we learnt how to roundup a number to the nearest tens which then makes the number even and more easier to multiply.

Image result for maths symbolsWhen you round up a number like 365 to the nearest ten which is 370 you have to always know how much you have added to make the number to the nearest ten, for example to found out how to make 365 to the nearest tens we had to round up the number and add 5 to make the number to the nearest tens. when you round up in the end you have to always round down. So for example when you add numbers to make the number more easier to deal with you always have to take away the extra number you have added to the equation.

I really enjoy using the rounding up and rounding down method because I found it a quicker and simple way to solve my equations. The thing I found challenging is still have to multiply the 3 digit number when you round up and round down the number.
