Made in Taiwan

We have been watching a series of episode of 2 guys name Nate and Oscar . They travel places, were there ancestors comes from. Here is a few summary's that I have made to summaries a bit of what I watched in each episode. Each episode they have has been filmed in different places.

Aotearoa -These two mates, Oscar and Nate, wanted to journey to see where the ancestors were. So first it starts with them using swabs which they rub in their mouth to get DNA usage. The swabs get sent overseas to a place in England. There journey starts off on the Takitimu, which is the waka that the fathers descendants use to travel.

Rarotonga -Nate and Oscar travelled to the Cook Islands next and that's were they believe were the waka ( Takitimu - Takitumu) had left to work their way off to Mahia. They visited the place were the stones of the names of the Waka’s the descendant from the Cook Islands to New Zealand was. They visited a place called the Garden of seven stones were it had stones that had the names of the wakas which sailed away from the Cook island to travel to New Zealand. They visited a family that they think they were related to and they had a feed and was talking about family and about the Takitimu which was the waka their family travelled on. Rarotonga is 3 thousand KM away from Mahia.

Samoa - Oscar and Nate next went to Samoa to his family village and visited his dad who died when he was 3 years old. When Oscar's father died, his mum took him to New Zealand to go live with his aunty and uncle and those who raised him, later on when Oscar turned 21 years old he visited his father after 18 years. Oscar shows his family graves, including his dad’s grave. While they were at Samoa he took Nathan with him to church with his mum and grandmother.

Vanuatu -Vanuatu people are one of the first settlers known as the Lapita people which arrived 3000 years ago. 3000 years ago, canoes brought the Lapita people. Nate and Oscar were learning about the Lapita pottery, they learnt about the designs and the faces of the designs that they saw on the pottery. Nate got sick during the trip and they were there. Oscar and Nate visited a family there and they are one of the first foreigners to visit the island. They meet an archaeologist who was the one that showed them the Lapita pottery and he shows them the burial place were they get digged up in between the reef and later on get the skulls get taken away for sacred use. Archaeologists learn about how people lived 3000 years ago.

Taiwan -When Oscar and Nate arrive in Taiwan, they are greeted by a local young woman from Taiwan named Niwa who showed them around. Their first stop is to the national Taiwanese museum. They learnt about the history and the many different people of Taiwan. They found out that the language of the polynesians originated from the Asian language. taiwan is the last place they visited because it's the last place of were they originated from.

There journey has been really interesting and I would one day like to find out were my ancestors come from.
What I enjoyed about this task is learning about their ancestors and the background of the many people they met. What I found challenging was summarising each episode, that was filled with many interesting facts and information.
