Reading - Innovation/Inquiry- Design for good. 📘📕

WALA: an article called design for good.

This week we have been learning about an article which is based on innovating and how these men have been innovating on a trap that will kill the pest in New Zealand, so that they won't be able to kill our native animals of New Zealand.

We have many different animals in New Zealand, such as the kiwi, tui, possums, stoats, kiore and etc. In the article it talks about the native bush and by the native bush it is talking about our forests and the places were our native animals live in the bushes. It is important to look after the New zealand bushes because that is a home to all our native animals and if there are pest in our country then that shows that our native animals have a chance to be endangered in the future because how the pest kill them. The people who are responsible for this is the people who live in NZ because if we young people grow up and there are still no change because how we had a responsibility there will be a chance of our future kids of not being able to see the native animals of NZ. Some of the pest were brought into NZ such as the deer, they were brought for sport and possums and ferrets were brought in for their fur and there was one pest how came as a stowaway because how it snuke onto the boats and they were rats or kiores.

Here are 3 animals who were introduced to our country.
Stoats are one of the dangerous pest in New Zealand because they are able to swim and climb tree which means that they are able t climb to birds nest and they can creep up to ducks in the water. We value some animals more then others such as the kiwi, We value the kiwi more then other animals because they are our native

Technology

IALT: blog about what I did at technology.

Today at technology we learnt how to make brownies with our buddies. My buddie for technology was Kensington, Kensington is great to work with and he has a lot of skills with cooking.

I enjoyed eating the brownies at technology and also working and building strong relationships with my buddie Kensington. What I found challenging was trying to understand the ingredients on the board but with the help of my buddie we got through in the end.
Here is me and my buddies brownie we made which didn't taste really nice to me.

Thinking about Bias

IALT: blog about Bias.

Today we were learning about bias, We got shown a picture of a the nutrition's facts from 2 different M&M's. We had to say what we noticed, saw, felt and wonder about the things that we given to us on the piece of paper.

We got another piece of paper which then gave a statement on the first paper above.
The source was: Mrs Sweet Tooth.
In this statement, it was talking about how amazing M&M's are. Some people agreed because and some people disagreed because they had better treats. There was also a part where it was talking about how M&M's are healthy because it has no trans fat in it, and because how colourful it is show that shows that it's healthy. I disagreed with that statement because even if M&M's had no trans fat it also had sugars, sodium's and carbohydrates.

We got a chart which then we used to depend how good it was and it was bias.
If there was something with high bias in it it means it had less evidence and information about something and so then we didn't understand and something with low bias is what we used to tell if it has a high amount of  information and evidence to to what it's talking about.

Athletics Day

IALT: blog about what we did on Friday for athletics.

On Friday the 16th of November had our very own TPS athletics day. It was Nice and sunny we all had a amazing time.

The athletics day was being held at the TPS field were we had all shorts of games like SHot put, long jump, standing jump, disscuss, other games. We also had races and relays between each house. The different houses that were there was Tripoli,Alamein,Benghazi and Tobruk, The different houses had different colours:
Tripoli was: BLUE
Benghazing was: Green
Alamein was: yellow
&
Tobruk was: Red.

The athletics day was amazing there families that came over and had picnics, We also got to have free sausages and ice-blocks which were yummy and tasty. The best part of my day at athletics was the races which were really challenging but I still tried, The were different type of races. There was a 50m race, a 75m race, a 100m race and a 400m race.

Each house got to do face paint which was cool and we also got to paint on other things like our arms, our shirts and our hands. I painted my whole face and then I put a mask on  to cover my eye lids which I didn't paint. When I went out side we were told to put on sunblock but I already had paint so I just left it.

I thought everyone there showed a lot of sportsmanship to everyone mostly when Benghazi one, The other houses were mad but I could tell they were trying to stay as positive as they could be. At the end each house got to say there chant out loud so that everyone could here them, We each got to do it one by one and the chants I loved the best was Tripoli's chant which I think really thought was great, even though we won't the loudest we still tried our best and a massive THANK YOU! to Grace because she really stepped up when Tripoli was doing there chant, she really gave her all and she leaded most of the chants. I will also like to say THANK YOU to Edith because here brother got really tired during the 400 metre race she ran next to him to support him and I thought she showed real good Manaakitanga.

The winners for the Athletics day was:
Benghazi!
congragulations benghazi on your win, They were the best teams out of all the teams,
They also one in the chants for thier house, so congratulations.
Here is the winnings team chant.

Here is Miss Ashley and room 7 in there different colours for there houses.

Here the filed at Tamaki primary school which looks like a thousand miles.

Predator free

IALT: blog about what I have just done
Today a lady called Miss Treena came in to teach us about pests. She was talking to us about the predator free group which is trying to make New Zealand predator free by 2020. We learnt about how others having their own opinions to pest and we also had a argumentation to show our different opinions to the topic. We were given a statement by a person called "Nature Watcher" and we had to give our feedback to nature watcher's statement.

Nature watchers statement was " Animals that are called "pest" by the predator free group should be shown more respect."

This was my opinion:

I strongly disagree with nature watcher because we should not be showing respect to pests who will give us a chance of making our native animals endangered in the future and also pests are like murders to our animals and we should not be treating threats to our native animals with respect.
Pest are not things we should be thankful to have since our native New Zealand animals are being killed by them. Pest are killing millions of our native animals each year and it should be noticed so that we can help save our native animals for the future.

I enjoyed being able to put my own opinion and also getting to see other peoples opinion.
The thing I found challenging was trying get enough details to put in my opinion.

IALT: Reflect on the Manaiakalani film festival

Image result for www.manaiakalaniToday the whole school went to the sylvia park cinemas and we got to watch the different types of movies that each class have made  and also what the other schools classes have made. The thing I have enjoyed the most was being able to watch not only Tamaki primary's movies but also other schools videos.

When we had to got ready to go to the cinemas we had to get into buddies with our buddy class. My buddy was Sosaia in room 4. I really enjoyed having him as a buddie mostly because he was good and listened very carefully to instructions I told him and he did it. The Manaiakalani was amazing and learnt many things there, I actually learnt that it was the 11th Manaiakalani being held.
